Portland is a city of neighborhoods, each with its own character, and few are as distinctive as Hosford-Abernathy and Ladd’s Addition. Situated in the heart of Southeast Portland, this area seamlessly blends historic charm with a modern urban vibe. From tree-lined streets and picturesque rose gardens to some of the best dining in the city along SE Division, this bustling area offers something for everyone—whether you’re a longtime Portlander or considering a move to this vibrant community.
A Little History
Ladd’s Addition, one of Portland’s oldest planned residential developments, dates back to the late 19th century. Its unique diagonal street grid, designed by William S. Ladd, was inspired by European city planning and remains one of the most recognizable layouts in Portland. The neighborhood is known for its charming early 20th-century Craftsman and Old Portland-style homes, as well as its iconic rose gardens nestled within the central traffic circles. This is one of the most sought after SE neighborhoods in Portland - and we have an amazing renovation in the works here! I could not be more excited to be working some magic in this amazing neighborhood. Check on my ADTV spot from awhile back with a Ladd's feature!
Hosford-Abernathy, which surrounds Ladd’s Addition, offers a dynamic mix of historic homes, mid-century apartments, and new developments. It’s a neighborhood that has evolved alongside Portland’s growth, maintaining its historic roots while embracing the city’s creative and culinary culture.
